Joseph "Corky" Coker, president of Coker Tire Co. and chairman of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), has been chosen to receive the 2004 Meguiar's Award which honors him as the collector car hobby's Person of the Year.

Candidates are judged on their contributions to the growth and visibility of the hobby, in addition to their help with legislation related to the pursuit.

Community involvement also plays a role in the evaluation process.

"Corky is the ultimate car guy," says Barry Meguiar, president of Meguiar's Inc.

"His overwhelming enthusiasm and tireless efforts have impacted almost every segment of the collector car hobby."

Coker will be honored at a Hollywood, Calif., awards ceremony on June 19.
