March 15, 2004

Television viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. thanks to the Travel Channel's "Made in America" program.

Scheduled to air tomorrow (March 16) at 9 p.m. EST, the program, hosted by John Ratzenberger, best known as Cliff Clavin on the popular show "Cheers," shows off Goodyear's World of Rubber museum in Goodyear Hall, the Akron Technical Center, labs and test track.

A film crew from Studio City, Calif., filmed exclusive footage last May which will be augmented with historical and manufacturing video from Goodyear's Electronic Communications Department.

Ratzenberger takes viewers on a tour of Goodyear's computerized tire design area, labs, anechoic chamber (a room where vehicle noise is studied), and the company's Akron test track.

The show also highlights other Akron landmarks, including the All-American Soap Box Derby.
