Jan. 7, 2004

Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc. has announced more management changes.

Mike Gorey -- who earlier today was named chairman, CEO and president of BFS Diversified Products LLC -- has been appointed president of Firestone Building Products, an operating unit of BFS Diversified Products, effective Feb. 1.

He replaces Dave Grass, who will retire on that date.

In a related announcement, Lori Jones has been named director, information technology, effective Feb. 1. She will report to Gorey.

Replacing Gorey as Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc. controller and Bridgestone/Firestone North American Tire LLC (BFNT) CFO, effective Feb. 1, is John Vispo, current controller of BFNT's manufacturing operations.

In addition, Jim Pridgen, plant manager at BFNT's Oklahoma City, Okla., factory, will assume the same duties at BFNT's Wilson, N.C., plant on March 1.

Pridgen will replace Kaz Nishigai, who is returning to Japan to accept a new assignment with parent company Bridgestone Corp.

Barry Owens, current division manager at BFNT's Warren County, Tenn., truck and bus tire plant, will succeed Pridgen at Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoma City facility manufactures more than 50,000 passenger tires a day at top capacity, according to Modern Tire Dealer data.

Earlier this afternoon, Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc. Chairman, CEO and President John Lampe announced that he will retire on March 31, 2004.

He will be replaced by current BFNT Chairman, CEO and President Mark Emkes.
