ASA teams with Michelin and Piedmont

Dec. 13, 2005

ASA Tire Systems and Michelin North America Inc. have completed and successfully deployed a new interface to Michelin's BibTread system.

ASA says the development allows independent tire dealers to move retread information from the Michelin BibTread software to ASA's TireMax accounting and point of sale software electronically and seamlessly.

ASA Tire Systems worked closely with Piedmont Truck Tires to deploy the new interface (Piedmont has been using ASA's TireMax software for more than 15 years and Michelin's BibTread system since 2004). Before this development, Piedmont spent countless hours manually logging information between the two systems.

"We are definitely saving both time and money," says Dan Rice, Piedmont's president. "We have eliminated at least four hours of clerical time everyday, equating to at least $25,000 a year savings in salary and benefits.

"Additionally, we are now able to use bar code numbers to serialize and account for all carcasses that are processed in the system. With this new functionality, we can capture previously missed repair revenue equaling over $10,000 per month."

Michelin BibTread software provides complete management of every step of the retreading and repair process, tracking each tire through its receiving, inspection, repair, and final invoicing. Detailed fleet specifications for allowable age, number of retreads, number of repairs and tread type are maintained for each tire.
