Nov. 27, 2005

Year-long fund-raising efforts by Tirecraft Auto Centers Ltd. has raised more than $100,000 for breast cancer research -- and the awareness that goes with it.

Throughout the year, more than 80 Tirecraft locations in Canada either held their own fundraising event or participated in the CIBC Run for the Cure. A total of 1,271 people -- Tirecraft employees, family members and friends -- participated in these events. Their efforts generated more than $83,000.

In addition, Tirecraft stores across Canada promoted the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation "Think Pink" wristband campaign. The wristband sales through Tirecraft locations generated an additional $23,000 toward Breast Cancer research.

The total amount raised through fund raising events and wristbands sales was $106,759.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation-Alberta and NWT Chapter recently recognized Tirecraft's efforts this year by nominating Tirecraft in two categories for the Philanthropy Day Heart and Soul Awards, including Outstanding Philanthropist and Outstanding Corporation.
