The 2006 edition of the Pirelli Calendar, a cult object for
more than 40 years, recently debuted in Paris, France.
Photographs for the calendar were shot in a striking sixties-like setting on the French Riviera by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Six women were featured: Jennifer Lopez (making her Pirelli Calendar debut), Gisele Bundchen, Guinevere Van Seenus, Kate Moss, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova.
"Everything revolves around the models, and there is great freedom. We create images that follow no rules," says Alas.
"The photo shoot was an experience where everything flowed and was very natural," adds Piggott.
The launch of the 2006 Pirelli Calendar coincides with the birth of www.pirellical.com, the new portal devoted to the 42-year history of the calendar's photography.
