Nov. 17, 2005

Bridgestone Corp. has announced it will build a new, $7 million technical center in China.

A total of $14 million has been set aside for investment in the project.

The center will be located next to Bridgestone's plant in Wuxi, China.

Bridgestone's other tech centers are in Akron, Ohio; Tokyo, Japan; and Rome, Italy.

The Japanese tiremaker has two passenger tire manufacturing plants and one truck and bus tire plant in China.

"Steady progress is also being made" on the construction of another truck and bus factory in the country, say Bridgestone officials.
