Goodyear names Ponton to new vice presidential post

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has named Brett Ponton vice president of its North American consumer retail business. In this position, he will be responsible for all company-owned Goodyear retail stores in North America.

Goodyear's retail operations group is responsible for 763 company-owned tire stores, 139 of them operated under the Just Tires retail format.

Reporting directly to Ponton will be: Mike Blackburn, general manager, retail operations; Cary Budzinski, manager, retail sales and promotions; Rich Schossler, manager, service sales; Kary McDonough, team leader, health and safety; Rick Godic, manager, operations; and Paul Raglow, manager, retail inventory.

Ponton's successor will be named at a later time.

Most recently, Ponton served as vice president of channel marketing, with responsibilities for platform management and channel brand management. Kelly, associate and custom brand operations reported to him; he also led efforts to drive simplification and improve productivity across all brands.

Ponton joined Goodyear in 1992, and served in finance positions at Goodyear's Lincoln, Neb., location before moving to corporate headquarters in Akron.
