After a competitive tender process, the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP), a United Kingdom-based government program established to promote resource efficiency, has chosen EER Ltd. to carry out a comprehensive study of international "Best Practices" for recycling scrap tires into marketable products.

The project will provide a comprehensive report on recognized best practice techniques from around the world for processing and using post-consumer tire rubber in a range of market applications.
To deliver the work, EER will team up with Hickton-Madeley Architects of Telford, Shropshire, U.K., Pelmar Engineering Ltd. of Ramat-Hasharon, Israel, and the Recycled Tire Engineering & Research Foundation of Tempe, Ariz. The project team is headed by Anne Evans, chairman and CEO of Hebron, Conn.-based EER.
Evans is a former member and founder of the U.K.'s Responsible Recyclers Programme, now the Tyre Recovery Association. She is also a founding member of Connecticut's (USA) Department of Transportation Quiet Pavements Task Force and the representative/stakeholder for the Connecticut tire dealers, retreaders and scrap tire recyclers on the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection's Solid Waste Advisory Committee.
"For this project, we will focus on projects, processes and products globally which are environmentally sensible, commercially viable, and technically sound," says Evans. "Our team will survey the world's use of waste tires in making end products, and analyze them for market efficiency and adaptability in the U.K."
