Nov. 8, 2005

Michelin's airless Tweel tire and wheel system has been named one of Popular Science magazine's "Most Amazing Inventions of 2005."

"We believe Tweel has the potential to transform mobility in a variety of applications and already delivers some unique performance characteristics to wheelchairs, construction equipment, military vehicles and more," says Terry Gettys, president of Michelin Americas Research and Development Corp.

Tweel remains a concept product for passenger cars, according to Michelin officials.

The magazine carries a November 21 issue date.
