Yokohama increases prices up to 6%

Oct. 29, 2005

Yokohama Tire Corp. will increase prices "across the board" on its Yokohama brand as well as associate and private brand consumer tires effective Jan. 1, 2006.

The tire price increases will range up to 6%; additional in-line adjustments will be made. Detailed pricing will be provided to dealers prior to the actual increase.

The company has cited the following for the increase:

* continued escalation of petroleum derived material costs;

* energy cost increases;

* freight cost increases; and

* social cost adjustments.

Continental Tire North America Inc. also will raise its consumer tire prices Jan. 1. The increases -- up to 8% -- will apply to all replacement channel Continental, General and private brand passenger and light truck tires.
