Contract talks loom for CTNA

Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) is planning to start master contract negotiations with the United Steelworkers, a spokesperson from the company has confirmed.

CTNA's current contract with the union expires next year.

The two parties concluded contract re-opener talks earlier this summer.

"The talks, which limited bargaining to retirement issues, will affect benefits for about 3,000 (union) members employed at (CTNA's) Charlotte, N.C.; Bryan, Ohio; and Mayfield, Ky., plants," said union officials at the time.

Dortmund, Germany-based The Rosler Group and Titan International Inc. are currently negotiating with Steelworkers to buy the Bryan OTR plant from CTNA.

The companies are required to work out a new deal with the union before the transaction can be completed.
