Goodyear introduces Fortera with TripleTred Technology

Sept. 13, 2005

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has unveiled a new version of its Fortera SUV tire that features the company's TripleTred Technology. The introduction marks Goodyear's fifth major product debut within the last 18 months, say Goodyear officials.

The Fortera with TripleTred Technology contains three distinct tread zones -- one for dry surfaces, one for wet surfaces and another for snow and ice driving.

It also contains multiple traction notches and sipe blades, a one-piece rib running down the middle of the tire, a directional tread pattern and serrated sidewall, among other features.

The tire comes with a 60,000-mile tread life limited warranty and a 30-day "no obligation" trial, and is initially available in 12 sizes "to fit the most popular SUVs," according to Goodyear officials.

Goodyear will start running TV and radio ads next month in support of the product, which is in stock now.
