Hankook posts profit, record first-half sales

According to the Asia Pulse, Hankook Tire Co. recorded net profit of 114.4 billion won on sales of 999.7 billion won for the first half of 2005 ended June 30.

Compared to the same period a year ago, profit, which represented 11.4% of sales, was up 13.1%.

Hankook cited "increased exports and sales of high-end products" as reasons for the 13.1% increase in profits. Revenue was up 9.5% over the same period, a first-half record, added Asia Pulse.

Based on the most recent currency exchange rate, Hankook posted net income of $112.4 million on sales of $982 million for the first half.
