Goodyear announces tire price increases

Aug. 3, 2005

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has sent out notification of a price increase of 5% to 8% for its Goodyear, Dunlop and private brand consumer tires. It also is raising commercial tire prices up to 5%.

The company cites rising raw material and transportation costs as the rationale behind the increases, which will go into effect Sept. 1.

Goodyear has raised consumer tire prices twice in the last 12 months: up to 5% on June 1, 2005, and up to 5% on Sept. 1, 2004.

The company last raised prices on its Goodyear, Dunlop, Kelly and private brand commercial tires up to 6% effective May 15.
