Michelin's PAX System run-flat technology is playing a role in General Motors' (GM) Challenge X crossover conversion contest.
Engineering students from 17 universities are taking part in the three-year competition, which entails re-engineering a GM crossover vehicle to make it more energy efficient.
Contestants are using PAX tire and wheel assemblies.
"Supporting innovative programs like Challenge X ... affords Michelin an opportunity to link with other leaders," says Tom Chubb, Michelin Automotive Industry Division vice president of marketing.
