Nokian posts sales increase

Nokian Tyres plc's net sales totaled 129.4 million euros during the first quarter, a 14.6% increase over 1Q 2004 results.

Nokian's first quarter operating income was 14.6 million euros.

"The target for 2005 is to outperform the results of 2004 in terms of sales and profit," say Nokian officials.

Nokian also is reporting that its Vsevolozhsk, Russia, plant has produced its first tires, the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 4.

The facility is expected to manufacture 200,000 to 500,000 units this year.
