Continental Tire helps promote tire safety
As part of National Tire Safety Week, Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) has begun promoting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) new campaign, “What’s your PSI?”
The campaign was kicked off during the first day of National Tire Safety Week on Monday, April 25th, at an American Car Care Center (ACCC) store in Washington, D.C.
Together with NHTSA and the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA), CTNA will help educate drivers about proper tire maintenance and tire pressure.
"This is a great example of how public/private partnerships can benefit the American public," said NHTSA Administrator Jeffrey Runge, M.D. Brochures and posters are being distributed to tire retail locations, car dealerships and DMVs (Department of Motor Vehicles) in the U.S.
In addition, consumers can learn about proper tire maintenance and their contribution to better vehicle safety by completing a short “What’s your PSI?” quiz online (www.continentaltire.com or www.safercar.gov).
"This campaign is another great step in achieving NHTSA's and CTNA's collaborative goal to educate drivers and promote proper tire maintenance," said Martien de Louw, president and CEO for CTNA.
"Continental Tire and Continental Teves, CTNA's sister company that manufacturers vehicle safety systems such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), TPMS and ABS, embrace its close partnership with NHTSA and are excited to continue its efforts to improve vehicle safety in North America."
Over the past years, CTNA has been an active partner and continuous promoter in the national "Be tire smart, play your part" (www.betiresmart.com) campaign that is managed by RMA and teaches consumers about the four steps to optimal tire safety.
"With the introduction of the 'What’s your PSI?' campaign, we are only adding to our already very successful efforts and are expanding the communication of proper tire maintenance to drivers," added de Louw.
