Marangoni business up substantially

April 25, 2005

Marangoni Tread North America Inc.'s (MTNA) business is up 35% to 40% over same-period levels last year, company President Bill Sweatman has told moderntiredealer.com.

"All of our dealers are showing considerable growth," says Sweatman.

"We're looking to add four to six new dealers a year for the next few years."

MTNA had a record year in 2004, according to Sweatman.

"We're starting to fill in some strategic markets. We still have a lot (that are) open."

MTNA recently announced that South Paris, Maine-based Jewell Tire Center and Green Bay, Wis.-based Ray's Tire are converting to its Ringtread system.

In addition, Hill Tire Co. has opened its second Ringtread plant in Valdosta, Ga., and Les Schwab Tire Centers will install its second Ringtread shop next month.

Last week, MTNA reported that it has begun construction to expand production at its Madison, Tenn., plant, which opened last year.

"The expansion will double our capacity and should come on-stream by August."
