ACCC, Continental Tire sign long-term partnership agreement

April 22, 2005

American Car Care Centers (ACCC) has entered into a long-term partnership with Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) to distribute and sell Continental and General brand tires.

The agreement continues the strong association between ACCC's national network of more than 1,100 dealers and the Continental and General brands.

"CTNA's strong OE presence is very important, but equally important is the new direction the company has taken," says Len Lewin, president & COO of ACCC.

"The signing of this agreement clearly indicates we believe in the direction and wish to support it. This agreement provides a strong foundation upon which we can continue to grow our partnership. We are pleased with the consistencies it provides our membership."

The long-term agreement was signed during the recent ACCC board of directors meeting in Charlotte, N.C., on April 20. It also encompasses other elements, such as growth targets, promotion, signage and display material within ACCC retail locations in the United States.

"This is a significant step forward and a key element of our overall business strategy," says Andreas Gerstenberger, vice president of sales and marketing for CTNA's Passenger & Light Truck Replacement business unit. "We believe our mutual objectives are closely aligned, and (this) represents a huge opportunity for both organizations to expand our presence in the U.S. replacement market."
