Gray in, MacLeod out at O.K. Tire

March 15, 2005

Langley, British Columbia-based O.K. Tire Stores Inc. has appointed Nelson Gray as its president and general manager. He replaces O.K. Tire CEO and President Ken MacLeod, who resigned last month.

Gray started with O.K. Tire more than 40 years ago and was instrumental in setting up the company's distribution system, which includes more than 250 locations throughout Canada.

O.K. Tire Stores officials did not disclose why MacLeod resigned. He was promoted to CEO in 2001.

O.K. Tire Stores posted more than $250 million in sales last year.

This is the second top management shake-up in several days for a Canadian distribution group.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Brent Hesje has replaced Brian Hesje as CEO of Edmonton, Alberta-based Fountain Tire.

Brian Hesje, who joined Fountain Tire in 1984, had served as the company's CEO since 1992. He will remain with Fountain as chairman of its board.

Fountain Tire also announced other executive promotions. Leroy Hawtin has been elevated to senior vice president, Gary Paulson is now vice president of finance, and Jim Pangle has been appointed general manager of stores.
