Standards Testing Labs to present tire technology seminars

March 9, 2005

Standards Testing Laboratories (STL) Trans Tech will hold its 2005 Tire Technology Seminars May 3–5 and Oct. 4–6 at the company’s Massillon, Ohio-based testing and evaluation facility.

"This course is designed for both entry-level engineers and individuals who need to know about tires in their jobs. It covers tire basics," says Cheryl Schnuth, STL's vice president, marketing.

Those attending in the past have included attorneys who deal with tire litigation, raw material suppliers, Department of Transportation and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration representatives, Federal Bureau of Investigation staff who conduct tire footprint research and employees of the Environmental Protection Agency.

The two-and-a-half-day seminars provide a comprehensive overview of the technology of the tire industry. Tire nomenclature, raw materials and manufacturing, design, construction, testing, applications and other tire topics are addressed by a panel of engineering, chemistry, physics and tire industry professionals.

A registration fee of $800 includes admission to the seminar, all materials, three lunches, the evening banquet and refreshments throughout the course. STL will assist in reserving affordable hotel accommodations for out-of-town attendees.

The deadline to register for the May 3–5 seminar is April 15, and the deadline for the Oct. 4–6 seminar is Sept. 16.
