Goodyear tire plants recommended for certification

Jan. 16, 2002

All of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s North American tire manufacturing plants have been recommended for certification to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standard.

This standard defines the requirements for environmental management systems that an organization uses to identify and manage potential impacts its activities have on the environment.

The system must include a commitment to comply with government regulations and standards as well as a commitment to pollution prevention and continual improvement that goes beyond legal requirements, Goodyear notes.

Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd., an independent firm, audited all the plants and recommended them for certification. Ongoing surveillance and re-certification reviews are required to maintain certification.
