Marangoni enjoys record year in 2004

Feb. 8, 2005

Last year was Marangoni Tread North America Inc.'s (MTNA) best ever, according to Bill Sweatman, the company's CEO. "Every one of (our) North American Marangoni Ringtread dealers grew and improved their businesses," he says.

MTNA plans to add lines to its manufacturing plant in Madison, Tenn., this spring. MTNA began producing tread rubber there last April.

"As we have already begun 2005, it looks like it will be every bit as good as last year, if not better.

"We now have more Ringtread manufacturing capacity and market coverage than ever before."

MTNA wants to add three or four new retreaders to its network each year, Sweatman told Modern Tire Dealer in an exclusive interview last June.

Jacksonville, Ill.-based I.T.R. Inc. and Jackson, Tenn.-based Tire Treads Inc. signed with the company in 2004. In addition, a new Canadian joint venture, West End Tread System, began using MTNA's Ringtread system last fall.

"We expect to double our business over the next two years. We're excited about the future."

MTNA has 1.5% share of the United States truck tire retread market, according to Modern Tire Dealer data.
