Continental tires are OE on award-winning vehicles

Jan. 11, 2005

Continental tires are original equipment on the North American Car of the Year and the Truck of the Year chosen at the North American International Auto Show being held in Detroit, Mich., Continental Tire North America Inc. reports.

The vehicles are the Chrysler 300/300c and the Ford Escape Hybrid truck. They were chosen by automotive journalists due to their innovation, value, safety, ride and handling.

Continental Tire has been the primary tire supplier for the Ford’s Escape Hybrid. The ContiTrac Eco Plus tire was designed and engineered for that vehicle. The tire’s low rolling resistance (LRR) compound and unique belt contour improve the vehicle’s fuel efficiency and increase responsiveness and handling, says Continental Tire.

The Chrysler 300/300c also won “The Car of the Year 2005” from Motor Trend magazine, “Best Sedan” by Autoweek, and received the five star government test rating. Continental Tire supplies the 300/300c with various Continental tires including Continental’s self-sealant design, ContiSeal. The unique tire sizes and their low profile and large rim diameter improve the vehicle’s responsiveness and handling, says the company.
