Goodbye Continental Tire Bowl, hello Meineke Muffler Bowl

Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) has decided not to renew its three-year contract with Raycom Sports to sponsor the Continental Tire Bowl. The contract expired on Dec. 30, 2004.

Meineke Car Care Centers Inc. is taking over sponsorship of the postseason college football bowl. The agreement is estimated to be worth in excess of $1 million a year.

"This has been a wonderful experience for us and we enjoyed a great partnership with Raycom Sports,” said Martien de Louw, CTNA president and CEO. "However, we are at a point in our North American restructuring plan, where we believe it is the right time to focus our marketing activities on our dealers and brands on an on-going, year-round effort."
