Purcell Tire & Rubber Co.´s new distribution center in Springfield, Ill., is up and running.
The 80,000-square-foot warehouse started shipping on Jan. 3. It stocks passenger, light truck, medium truck and farm tires. "We may stock OTR tires (there) down the road," says Purcell Senior Vice President Dennis Flynn. The facility also will carry retreads.
The distribution center will cover most of Illinois, using three delivery trucks initially. "As routes expand, we´ll add more trucks," says Flynn.
The facility has 13 loading docks, "which is perfect for what we´re doing."
