Cooper contest winner gets to jet-set

Dec. 23, 2010

James Latham, 66, of Tishomingo, Okla., is the winner of the Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. Ultimate Bowl Tour contest.

Latham entered the contest online and had his name selected at random. His prize? Leaving on a nine-day trip to five of college football's biggest bowl games with his family, courtesy of Cooper.

They depart Dec. 31 on their football odyssey, with bowl game stops scheduled in Pasadena, Calif.; Miami, Fla.; New Orleans, La.; Dallas, Texas; and Glendale, Ariz. "I’m most excited to visit California and Florida, since I’ve never been,” he says.

Cooper Tire is providing private jet transportation, bowl game access, hotel accommodations and ground transportation. A first-hand account of Latham’s dream trip will appear on Cooper Tire’s Facebook page under the "Ultimate Bowl Tour" tab.

"The response from consumers was overwhelming, and we're looking forward to the upcoming trip and the enthusiasm it will generate," says Hal Gardner, vice president of marketing for Cooper Tire.

Cooper Tire teamed up with ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit to build excitement for the Ultimate Bowl Tour. With Herbstreit’s encouragement, eager football fans had the chance to enter the contest daily.

In addition to the grand prize winner, 25 first-prize winners will receive a $500 certificate toward a new set of four Cooper tires. Fifty second-prize winners will receive a Cooper Tire duffle bag stocked with a variety of Cooper merchandise.
