To BKT, tire sizes matter in off-the-road markets

Dec. 13, 2010

BKT (USA) Inc. recently added sizes to five of its farm and OTR tire lines. The "max" tire sizes are radial; the Farm 2000 and implement tires are bias.

1.Multimax MP 522: 500/70R24 (it replaces the 19.5 LR 24). The tire and its aggressive lug tread pattern are designed for use on telescopic handlers, backhoes and utility tractors.

2. Multimax MP 513: 425/55R17. The G-rated tire features a strong nylon casing reinforced with steel belts that is designed to carry heavy loads at high speeds. Like the MP 522, it is designed for use on telescopic handlers, backhoes and utility tractors.

3. Earthmax SR 50: 26.5R25. Featuring multilayer steel belts, the OTR tire is designed for loaders and dozers.

4. Farm 2000: 14.9-28 and 250/80-18. The R1 tractor tire sizes have two different purposes. The 14.9-28 is used for farming and haulage; the 250/80-18 is used on trailer implements, small tractors and multi-purpose trucks.

5.  I-1 (farm implement): 21.5L-16.1 SL. The flotation tire is designed to provide high flotation with minimum soil compaction. It also has "excellent" load distribution on and off the road, says BKT.
