TANA, ITRA play the new name game

Jan. 4, 2002

What's in a name? The tire industry's two largest dealer organizations -- set to merge on July 1 -- are trying to find out.

The Tire Association of North America (TANA) and the International Tire & Rubber Association (ITRA) are sponsoring a contest to pick the name of the new organization. All entries must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2002.

The individual submitting the winning name will win a five-night stay at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev., during the 2002 International Tire Expo Nov. 4-7. If more than one member submits the winning name, their names will be put into a drawing to determine the prize winner.

"This contest will help our members become involved in the merger process," says Tom Raben, ITRA president. "It will... help the leadership consider all potential names for the organization."

"We want to invite all members to be involved in the merger, and the choice of the new organization's name," adds Steve Disney, TANA president.

TANA and ITRA members soon will be receiving contest information from their respective organizations.
