Dry van trailer orders rose sharply last month

Nov. 23, 2010

New orders of dry van commercial trailers more than doubled in October from the previous year, a 33-month high for commercial trailer orders.

Specifically, orders were 79% higher than October 2009, according to ACT Research. "The strength in October orders was widespread but was clearly led by a surge in demand for dry van trailers," says Kenny Vieth, ACT Research president and analyst.

"October was only the second month since early 2007 that dry van orders broke above what ACT considers to be the dry van replacement level."
