After nine months of construction, the final steel beam was hoisted into place at Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC's (BATO) new technical center in Akron, Ohio.
The beam is situated at the highest point of the $100 million facility. "If we are to design and build world-class products, we need a world-class technical center," says Steve Shelton, vice president of product development, BATO.
The new technical center replaces an older one in "The Rubber City" and is scheduled to open in early 2012.
