Nov. 8, 2010

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. has placed its first medium truck tire on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay list of verified low rolling resistance tires.

"The Roadmaster RM180 meets the SmartWay program's stringent verified low rolling resistance criteria, which helps reduce fuel consumption, ultimately cutting costs and benefiting the environment," say Cooper officials.

"We are pleased to have our first premium product named to the EPA's SmartWay program for low rolling resistance," says Bill Hoban, Cooper's national truck tire sales manager.

"This achievement demonstrates Cooper's ongoing commitment to producing high-tech truck tires that are more fuel-efficient, thus helping to protect the environment."

The Roadmaster RM180 contains decoupling grooves for even wear, a cool-running base compound and other features, according to Cooper officials.
