Goodyear will drop Gemini name, format

Oct. 25, 2010

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is phasing out its Gemini Automotive Care retail store format, plus the Gemini name, and is transitioning those stores over to its new Tire & Service Network format.

The Gemini retail network is comprised of Goodyear company-owned stores and dealer-owned franchise outlets.

"We've started changing signs and the transition will continue through the end of the year," says a Goodyear spokesman.

All company-owned Gemini stores will convert to the Tire & Service Network model, he explains. Franchise members will have the option of converting to the new format. There are nearly 1,900 Gemini outlets in total.

Goodyear will announce more details at its annual dealer meeting, which is slated for early 2011.
