Oct. 15, 2010

Michelin North America Inc.'s (MNA) new BFGoodrich Winter Slalom KSI tire is available in 36 sizes, ranging from 14 inches to 17 inches in diameter.

The tire contains Michelin/BFGoodrich's proprietary Equal Tension Containment System, which maintains its tread footprint for consistent high-speed control; a unique rubber compound mix; 49 meters of high-sipe density; an optimized profile to minimize footprint stress; full lateral grooves for hydroplaning resistance and snow traction; and other features, according to MNA officials.

Additional features include "diamond cut" block edges with sloping tread elements; a nylon cap; and "winter regenerating compounds," which feature "micro-pores that provide grip... for continued traction on ice and snow."

"As the first BFGoodrich winter tire to be introduced in years, we knew that the Winter Slalom KSI needed to excite consumers and enthusiasts alike," says Andrew Koury, BFGoodrich Tires brand category manager, ultra-high performance and winter tires.
