Hankook's Foust wins Formula Drift finale

Oct. 13, 2010

Foust claimed his win at the Round 7: Title Fight in his Rockstar Energy Scion TC before a crowd of more than 12,000 people at the Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, Calif. The finale battle put the two-time Formula Drift champion up against Vaughn Gittin, Jr. After a close One More Time battle, Foust edged out Gittin to take the event victory.

The tires.com Triple Crown is made up of three regular season Formula D events. The driver with the highest combined score from Road Atlanta, Evergreen Speedway and Irwindale Speedway receives a $10,000 cash prize and a custom Fender guitar. Overall Foust and his team had an outstanding year, delivering a podium finish in five of the seven Drift events this season.

Stephan Papadakis, owner of Papadakis Racing/Tanner Foust, said “Tanner drove excellent and the team had our Scion running perfect. Irwindale is a special place to win with it being the birthplace of U.S. drifting and so many friends, family and sponsors in the stands.”

Papadakis attributed the Scion’s unrivaled speed to its tires. “The Hankook RS-3 tires allowed Tanner to record most of the fastest runs all year at each track.”

As for his take on the tires, Tanner Foust said “Our Hankook tires were an advantage for the entire Formula DRIFT season. When fixing, welding, tuning and pushing every other part of the Rockstar Energy Drink Scion tC, I always knew the Hankook’s would be there to bail me out in the clutch moment.”
