Bridgestone unveils new snow tire simulation technology

Dec. 14, 2001

Bridgestone Corp.'s new snow tire simulation technology analyzes specific tread patterns used for powering, stopping and turning vehicles in slippery winter conditions, according to Bridgestone officials.

Bridgestone says its "supercomputer" lets engineers view simulated tread patterns in motion on a snowy road and reduces the need for expensive prototype fabrication cycles in the tire development process.

The company plans to use snow simulations in "a broad range of tire development."
