Pirelli will raise tire prices for the third time

Sept. 29, 2010

Pirelli Tire North America will raise consumer tire prices in the United States effective Dec. 1, 2010.

The increase -- up up to 7% for all passenger and light truck tires -- is the company's third this year. Pirelli also raised consumer tire prices Jan. 1 (up to 4.5% on all passenger and light truck tires excluding its P4/P5 touring lines) and July 1 (4%).

Pirelli says the increase is "due to increasing raw material costs."

Pirelli is the third tire manufacturer to announce upcoming price increases as a result of escalating raw material costs. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will raise its consumer tire prices up to 6% on Oct. 1.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. will raise consumer tire prices in North America as much as 6.5% effective Nov. 1, 2010.
