Sept. 13, 2010

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s Tupelo, Miss., plant has racked up one million man-hours without a single lost time injury, the company reports.

"Tupelo has set an unprecedented safety achievement for North America by achieving one million man-hours without a lost time injury," says Cooper Chairman, CEO and President Roy Armes. "This significant milestone exemplifies the respect our employees have for safety -- both the safety and well-being of their co-workers as well as the safety and well-being of the customers who buy our products and trust in the quality we deliver to them."

The milestone "represents the dedication and diligence that our employees have toward maintaining a safe work environment," says Pat Jodon, plant manager at Tupelo. "This was truly a group effort and I applaud our team for their continued diligence and commitment toward safety."
