Aug. 6, 2010

This week's World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational will bring an estimated $30 million to Akron, Ohio, where it's being held.

"At the conclusion of this year's tournament, this event will have pumped more than $150 million into the local economy since it became the Bridgestone Invitational in 2006," say Bridgestone Corp. officials.

"We've had such a strong presence in Akron for more than a century, so it is gratifying that this tournament does so much to support charity and the local economy," says Gary Garfield, CEO and president of Bridgestone Americas Inc.

Bridgestone has extended its sponsorship of the tournament through 2014.
