Goodyear uses Web site to recruit laid-off airline workers

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is working with three major airlines -- United, American and Continental -- to recruit airplane mechanics, customer service representatives and sales advisors who have been laid off following September's terrorist attacks.

The Akron, Ohio-based tiremaker "offers a variety of skill positions" in its retail and automotive service outlets, says John Peer, director of Goodyear's North American retail operations.

Goodyear is inviting displaced workers to fill out on-line job applications at its www.goodyear.com Web site.
