Pirelli wins F1 supply contract for three years

June 23, 2010

Pirelli & Cie SpA will be the sole tire supplier to all Formula One teams starting in 2011. The three-year contract with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) calls for Pirelli to supply six types of racing tires -- four for dry weather, one for rain and one intermediate.

"The current economic climate has led to a realistic and collaborative approach with all the teams, ensuring that manufacturing and logistical costs are shared fairly," says Pirelli.

"Pirelli’s return to Formula One also has a firm eye on the future, with full collaboration with all teams. Research into innovative new tire developments is a vital part of this exciting program."
