Hill Tire boasts rare Marangoni machine

Forest Park, Ga.-based Hill Tire Co. has implemented a number of efficiency improvements at its retread plant in that town.

The shop boasts one of only three Marangoni Ringbuilder 3000 machines in North America. The Ringbuilder 3000 features a dual hub assembly that automatically applies cushon gum to a buffed casing on one hub while a Ringtread truck tire is being built on the other.

Hill Tire recently held an invitation-only open house to show off the machine. President Fred Hill estimates the Forest Park plant is retreading some 200 medium truck tires a day.

Hill Tire's other retread plant in Valdosta, Ga., retreads between 80 and 100 truck tires per day, according to MTD research.
