ITRA schedules first two regional training seminars

Nov. 7, 2001

The International Tire & Rubber Association's (ITRA) first regional Commercial Tire Service (CTS) Technician Training & Certification Seminars will be held Jan. 16-17, 2002, at the Fairlawn Holiday Inn in suburban Akron, Ohio, and Feb. 20-21, at the William Tell Holiday Inn in Countryside just outside of Chicago, Ill.

Each session, which lasts from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., will consist of live demonstrations and industry videos, plus new computer-generated presentations on wheel fastener torque and clamping force, according to ITRA officials.

Attendees will be able to take the certification exam right after the class. Everyone who participates in the program will receive an ITRA Certificate of Training, whether they take the test or not.

Advance registration cost is $225 for students who need a copy of ITRA's 250-page Commercial Tire Service Manual. Those who already own a copy of the publication may participate for $150. Everyone taking the exam must have their own copy.

Current ITRA Certified CTS Instructors and Technicians seeking a refresher course may attend for $75 a piece. On-site registration is an extra $25. Lunches will be provided.

Deadline to pre-register for the Akron class is Jan. 10; the Chicago cut-off date is Feb. 14.

ITRA Director of Training Kevin Rohlwing, ITRA Executive Director Marvin Bozarth and ITRA President Tom Raben discuss the Louisville, Ky.-based association's regional seminars in the current November 2001 issue of Modern Tire Dealer magazine.
