Wilkes-Barre, Pa.-based McCarthy Tire Service Co. has acquired Gerrard Tire Co., a five-location dealership based in Charlotte, N.C. Terms have not been disclosed.
The deal includes a retread plant, a commercial tire outlet, two retail stores and a distribution center, says John McCarthy, president of McCarthy Tire. (The retread plant is McCarthy Tire's second in North Carolina; late last year, it bought an OTR retread shop near Greensboro.)
Gerrard Tire, which employs 80 people, did about $20 million in sales last year, says McCarthy. "They're well-established in the Charlotte market."
