Goodyear intros next generation Kelly Charger

Nov. 1, 2001

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has introduced the new Kelly Charger "with a hot performance look consumers now demand," according to Mark McDonald, Kelly Brands marketing manager.

The Kelly Charger steel-belted performance radial for cars and light trucks has cleaner lines and bigger, bolder lettering than previous Chargers, according to Goodyear, plus a decorative serrated sidewall band.

When wet, the tire's three wide circumferential grooves with full-depth shoulder slots clear the contact patch for optimum traction, the company says. Uniform tread stiffness and stabilizing shoulder blades offer enhanced handling, lateral grip and steering response.

The Charger is available in 22 sizes in 50-, 60-, 65- and 70-series and will be manufactured predominantly at Goodyear's Kelly-Springfield plant in Fayetteville, N.C. The tire will be supported at point-of-sale with brochures, posters and window acetates, the company adds.
