Kumho Tire Corp. will supply original equipment tires to Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans, which will be sold in Europe and North America starting in May. The Sprinter vans will be equipped with Kumho Road Venture AT KL78 10-ply tires in size 215/85R16.
The Sprinter is one of the best selling commercial vehicles in Europe. Kumho says it expects the OE contract to have a "ripple effect on improving the company’s brand recognition as well as on increasing sales in the replacement equipment market."
Kumho also supplies the Mercedes-Benz division of Daimler AG with tires for the A-Class, Viano and Actros
Kumho says the company plans "an aggressive strategy to supply its tires to high-end automobiles, and to continue to increase its competitiveness in (the) OE market and keep pace with the growing premium tire market." Kumho also supplies OE tires to Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC in North America, and to Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen AG in Europe.
