Stehly Racing/Kumho Tire VW starts 2010 season on top

May 6, 2010

Stehly Racing and their Kumho Tire-sponsored Touring 3 VW GTI started their race year at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, Wis., at the Blackhawk Valley Double National on April 30 - May 1. The team doubled up race groups and ran in both Touring 3 and Super Touring, ending the weekend with three first place finishes and one second place finish while managing to set a new T3 track record.

According to driver Aaron Stehly, “We had two goals for this event. First was to drive as much as possible and use the extra time to feel out our new, wider Kumho V710 tire selection. Our second goal was to break the track record in Touring 3. Having only rotated the tires prior to the start of the third race, and setting the new lap record at that time, we are ecstatic about what the V710 has to offer. The tire was consistently fast and predictable with clear feedback. We logged just over 200 race miles in two days on the same set of tires and they have yet to fall off like other tires we have used in past years.”

Keeping their focus on the 2010 Runoffs Championship, the team is prepping the car for the next event, the Cat nationals, on May 21-23 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.
