Kumho rolls out new high performance, truck tires

Oct. 30, 2001

Kumho Tire U.S.A. has introduced two new high performance tires, one for passenger cars and the other for light truck and SUV applications, plus a new commercial truck tire.

All three were unveiled at The International Tire Expo in Las Vegas, Nev.

The V- and Z-rated ECTSA MX is available in 26 high performance car sizes and is based on Kumho's eight-year-old Victoracer V700 competition tire.

The ECTSA STX "represents Kumho's entry into the market for 22- and 23-inch sport truck tires," according to Kumho officials. "The VR-rated tire has been designed to offer SUV and light truck tuners...wet and dry handling that has previously been reserved for passenger cars."

It will start production in December and will be offered at first in 14 sizes. Six more sizes will be added this February.

Kumho is billing its new KRS02 commercial truck tire as a "performance" product. The tire is designed for local and city usage and can be used on steer, drive and trailer positions. It is available in two sizes, 11R22.5 and 11R24.5; Kumho will add two more sizes by mid-2002, company officials report.
