Goodyear starts building RM-design OTR tire

April 21, 2010

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. has started production of its new RM-design haulage tires for OTR applications. "The RM - for 'Rock Mining' - tread pattern is extra deep," say Goodyear officials.

This additional depth provides "enhanced performance in certain conditions."

The RM tire also contains interlocking stability blades for a more solid footprint; high angle grooves for extra traction; and other features.

It will be produced in the following sizes (date of availabilty in parentheses): 27.00R49 (April 2010); 46/90R57 (second quarter of 2010); 33.00R51 (second half of 2010); 37.00R57 (second half of 2010); 59/80R63 (fourth quarter of 2010/full production in 2011); and 53/80R63 (fourth quarter of 2010/full production in 2011)

The RM design was "developed from the company's successfuly RL-4M+ OTR tire," note Goodyear officials.
